C I R C L E S - Clubs, coteries, sets, societies of specified or restricted social groups. In the plural it suggests a whole section of society interested in one mode of life or occupation. C I R C L E S is about a commune of people who dress to make a personal fashion statement. Founded by Canadian Chinese Selway Au-Yeung in 2000, C I R C L E S began as a multi-brand select store in Hong Kong, offering contemporary daily-wear fashion from Japan, Europe, Australia and United States. In those earlier years, many unknown quality brands were successfully introduced to its customers to encourage more personal choices. In S/S 2008, C I R C L E S' first original collection was launched. Based on a meticulous balance between simplicity and the seasonal fashion trends, the label now takes on an androgynous silhouette in an illusive manner to create looks for those individualists who dress to show off personal confidence and arrogance. With a business management and marketing background, Selway has over 14 years of experience in fashion retailing, marketing and buying. From 2004-2007, Selway had also been heavily involved in many for Hong Kong artists. With no formal training in fashion design, Selway utilises inspirations from his interests in fine arts and the pop culture of the late 80's to early 90's in his designs. |
